With the new X4E Ultra PTZ camera, BirdDog has introduced a wired version of the X4 Ultra. It is specifically designed for studios, event venues, houses of worship, and large-scale installations where maximum reliability and image quality are essential.
The X4E Ultra fully leverages the high-performance DNA of the X4 Ultra. It features the same Sony sensor, the same image processing pipeline, and, of course, BirdDog’s renowned precision engineering. However, all components have been optimized for wired workflows. The X4E is designed for fixed installations and controlled network environments, where operational consistency is key.
The absence of Wi-Fi and an internal battery simplifies system integration for installers, while its more accessible price point facilitates multi-camera setups. At the same time, it retains the same professional flexibility, supporting SDI, HDMI, USB-C, as well as SRT, NDI, RTMP, and RTSP.
As a professional-grade tool, the X4E Ultra features what is arguably the most visible and effective tally system on the market. A bright frame surrounding the lens, clearly visible even in daylight, ensures that presenters and talent are always looking directly into the camera. This makes it easy for both the crew and on-screen subjects to know exactly which camera is live.
The AI control system of the X4E Ultra is intuitive, delivering reliable and consistent performance in every shot. As production demands grow, the AI capabilities expand and adapt, providing precise and automated PTZ camera control.
With NDI|HX3 integration, the X4E Ultra offers outstanding network performance, significantly reducing bandwidth usage while maintaining excellent image quality — making it ideal for an even wider range of production environments.
The always-on E-Ink label is a significant innovation. It allows users to easily identify each camera even when powered off, and displays network addresses for quick access to controls. In the near future, it will also support customizable logos, enhancing brand visibility in professional setups.
Through BirdUI, users have full access to all camera functions via an intuitive graphical interface — anywhere on the same network as the X4E Ultra. BirdUI also includes advanced features such as a camera monitoring dashboard and light/dark mode, adaptable to any production environment.
The BirdDog X4E Ultra is available in black and white finishes.
