BirdDog XL Ultra – PTZ Camera with 20x Optical Zoom and Integrated Secondary Panoramic Camera – Black

With the new XL Ultra, BirdDog has introduced a cinema-quality PTZ camera designed for high-end broadcasting, XR stages, virtual productions, and professional studio installations. At its core is a large-format 4/3-inch CMOS sensor paired with a 20x optical zoom (40x in HD) and HLD, OLPF, and ND filters. The camera delivers images with cinematic depth of field and exceptional sharpness, even in low-light conditions.

In addition to the main PTZ camera, the XL Ultra features an integrated 100° panoramic camera with a 1/1.8-inch sensor, larger than the primary sensor found in most PTZ cameras. Both cameras record in 4K60, can be controlled independently, and simultaneously output to separate sources.

Thanks to its advanced AI tracking engine, the XL Ultra adapts to any situation—from a CEO at the podium to an energetic guitarist on stage. The camera doesn’t just follow the subject; it behaves like a human camera operator. Its high-quality motors and advanced thermal design make the XL Ultra extremely precise and whisper-quiet, with no hum and no distractions.

The RGB display is fully customizable, while the side e-ink displays show the IP address, logo, or camera ID even when powered off. The rear display makes multi-camera setups easier to manage, ensuring clarity and control.

With 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HDMI, and optical 12G-SDI via SFP+, the XL Ultra integrates seamlessly into any setup. Balanced XLR connectors with phantom power, PoE++, and SFP are ideal for long cable runs. Its advanced processor supports rapid firmware updates. The XL Ultra streams simultaneously in NDI High Bandwidth and NDI HX3, offering maximum flexibility.

Genlock and timecode ensure perfect synchronization in multi-camera workflows. FreeD technology makes the XL Ultra ideal for AR/XR environments, while an integrated OLPF filter reduces moiré when shooting in front of high-resolution LED walls. An optional mounting system hides cables and fits trusses, tripods, ceilings, or studio installations.
